So I’m currently playing house with the cutest kids in the world, and because of that I had to come up with some crafty distractions for the tots so that we don’t watch hours of Dora the Explorer. I’ll tell you that Martha Stewart knows her shit. I found this fun/easy Halloween project in her magazine, and it turned out great.
Candy-Corn Brooms! What you’ll need is: Two medium (or large) brown paper lunch bags, candy corn, small sticks/branches, twine/straw ties/felt ties, scissors
Take one brown paper bag and stretch it so the bottom sticks out. Next cut the bag into strips (width is up to you but it turns out better if they are smaller); stop cutting right before you get to the bottom of the bag. The strips should go all around the bag.
Then put the candy corn into the bag that has not been cut into strips. Line the two bottoms of the bags together and bring the strips up around the intact bag. Place the stick into the intact bag about 1 inch and then wrap the twin around it.
Ours lasted about a half hour before the kids wanted to take them apart to eat all of the candy, but these would make great goody bags for a kids Halloween party, and are too cute.
Enjoy!
